Description
Acupuncture is a system of healing, based on "Qi" energy pathways discovered by the Chinese around 2,500 years ago. Traditional Chinese acupuncturists start from the principle that good health depends on Qi moving in a balanced way through these energetic pathways. We use very fine needles to tap into these energy channels. The principle aim of acupuncture is to help restore the natural balances in the body and to stimulate the body's own healing response. The needles we use are nothing like the hypodermic syringes used by doctors. our needles are not hollow, we do not inject anything into your body. The needles will usually only be inserted just a centimeter or so into your body. Initially you may feel a small amount of discomfort, but it doesn't usually last more than a minute or so.
Because acupuncture treats you as a whole person, we will need to ask you a lot of questions about your general health as well as understanding the particular condition that you would like to improve. Please wear very loose fitting clothing for an acupuncture treatment.
